Saving your files (for students)

MOST IMPORTANTÑmake sure you are logged in under your name. If someone else is logged in to the computer, tell them to log out so you can get to your stuff.

It is important to remember that when you open a file, double click and wait. DO NOT click 7 or 8 times. This will open several copies of your file and you will have difficulty saving it. If it says (read only) beside the name of your document at the top of the page, quit out of the program and try again.

If you are saving a document you had previously saved, simply click on FileˆSave and you are done. There is no need to go to Save As unless you are saving your file to a different location, such as a disk.

1)    To save a new document, go to FileˆSave. This will bring up the save window.

2)    Click on either the location selector or the drive selection button and choose Desktop.

3)    In the desktop window, double click the folder with your log in name on it.

The location bar at the top (where it said Desktop) should now say Documents. This is where you will save your files. To access your files the next time, double click the folder with your name on it on the desktop.
