Lindop School Announces 1^st Annual Tech Fair

 

Lindop School will hold a Technology Fair on Thursday, January 30, 2003 from 1-5 PM. All parents and community members are invited to attend. Representatives from computer companies will be present to show their products and answer questions. There will be a showcase of student work, and an opportunity for parents and community members to attend sessions related to computing.

 

1:00 – 1:50    Computer buyers guide. This session will focus on what to look for when shopping for a computer, including the differences between Apple Macintosh computers and Windows based computers. We will also discuss what to look for when shopping for an Internet Service Provider. (Computer Lab—registration requested)

 

2:00 – 2:50 Smart Searching using the Internet. This session will focus on how to find what you want quickly on the Internet. There are millions of web sites on the Internet, and sometimes it can be a daunting task to look for information. (Computer Lab—registration requested)

 

3:00 – 3:50 Introduction to Microsoft Office. In this session, we will talk about the basics of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel). We will briefly go over what each program does, show some examples of products created with each program, and have a small amount of hands-on time with some of the programs. (Computer Lab—registration requested)

 

1:00 – 5:00    Student Showcase. Student work done at school will be displayed for parents and community members to see. (Library—open to all)
